Cimperman Delivers 'Welcome Back' Gift Basket to Kucinich

Last Edited: Wednesday, 09 Jan 2008, 7:07 PM EST

Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman challenges Congressman Dennis Kucinich for 10th District congressional seat.

Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman is eager to take on Congressman Dennis Kucinich in the race for the 10th Congressional District, but Cimperman probably doesn't want to take on the Congressman's wife Elizabeth again.

Cimperman showed up at the doorstep of the Kucinich home armed with a "Welcome Back" gift basket.

"What job do you want? Do you want to be in Congress or be a presidential candidate? We don't need someone who is traveling in New Hampshire, in Iowa or traveling in California," Cimperman said.

The gift basket he prepared for Kucinich included food items from Cleveland, as well as maps of Cleveland to reacquaint the Congressman with our area.

Elizabeth Kucinich answered the door and said, "I am afraid we can't accept gifts from people who are wrapped up with Washington special interests."

Cimperman doesn't currently live in the district he would like to represent. She handed him a floral arrangement and said, "I understand you do not live in the district, so welcome."

Cimperman said earlier, "We deserve someone who is going to spend 24/7 here to bring dollars back to the district."

About the delivery of the gift basket to her front door, Elizabeth Kucinich said, "It's actually a bit pathetic that somebody should be coming to our house, invading our privacy."
